Introduction to the Conference:
The member countries of the Asia-Pacific Nation Network organize an annual INWES-APNN meeting, taking turns hosting it in their own country. Traditionally, the host country holds the INWES-APNN meeting in conjunction with an annual, conference. In 2023, the organization of Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in Mongolia (WSTEM Mongolia) will be hosting the 13th INWES-APNN meeting in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, from June 29th to July 1st, 2023, in conjunction with its annual Conference. The theme for this joint Conference is “Women’s Participation in Sustainable Development.”
Conference Goal:
The goals of this joint conference of INWES-APNN and WSTEM in Mongolia are to: promote the work of women scientists and engineers; introduce innovation; exchange experience; develop cooperative projects; and to promote Mongolian culture, history, and traditions, internationally. Exemplifying the Conference theme "Women's Participation in Sustainable Development," international women scientists and engineers will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the achievements and methods of, and share their implementation experience and lessons learned from the "Global Sustainable Development Goals-2030."
Conference Sectors:
The 2023 INWES-APNN-ICWSTEM Conference will focus on the following five sectors (within the framework of the 17 global Sustainable Development Goals). An award for the Best Paper will be awarded for each Sector.
- HEALTH AND FOOD SAFETY (#1. No poverty, #2. Zero hunger, #3.Good health and well-being)
- EDUCATION AND SCIENCE (#4. Quality education, #5. Gender equality)
- ENVIRONMENT (#6. Clean water and sanitation, #11. Sustainable cities and communities, #13. Climate Action, #14. Life below water, #15. Life on land)
- SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC STUDIES (#8. Decent work and economic growth, #10. Reduced inequality, #12. Responsible consumption and production, #16. Peace and justice, strong institutions, #17. Partnerships to achieve these goals)
- ENGINEERING (#7. Affordable and clean energy, #9. Industry, innovation and infrastructure)
Expected Outcomes:
1) Contributing to the implementation of relevant goals of global Sustainable Development; 2) Expanding the scope of activities of women scientists and engineers; 3) publicizing their creations and innovations; and 4) finding solutions to problems of are of high importance to women in STEM fields.
We expect that more than 100 women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics from 23 countries will participate in this joint INWES-APNN-ICWSTEM Conference. By the end of this Conference we expect to have:
- Promoted and advertised the best technology and innovative products developed by women in STEM fields, from over 20 countries;
- Compiled and deliverd the most promising ideas, proposals, and initiatives of Mongolian women scientists, engineers, and innovators to relevant government agencies and companies;
- Publicized the best works of women scientists and engineers in each Conference Sector;
- Developed papers that meet publication criteria;
- Publicized and introduced Mongolian culture, history, and traditions to an international audience;
- Made formal and informal connections and cooperation agreements between foreign and domestic women engineers and scientists
